Email says 'authentication failed'? Here is how to fix it
Go through these in order; most problems are solved by the first three.
1. Confirm the password in your provider's own webmail
Sign in to your host's webmail (for example yourdomain.com/webmail). If it fails there too, reset the mailbox password in your hosting panel.
2. Gmail and Yahoo need an App Password
Your normal password is refused on purpose. Create an App Password and use it instead.
3. Use your full email address as username
Most servers expect name@yourdomain.com, not just name.
4. "Too many failed sign-in attempts"
After several wrong passwords, sign-in pauses for a few minutes to protect your mailbox. Wait for the time shown and try again with the right password.
5. Check the server settings
If the app says the server did not answer or could not be found, enter the settings from the settings table or your host's help page.
6. The provider blocked the sign-in
Some hosts block sign-ins from new places after failed attempts. Sign in to their webmail, check for a security notice, or ask your host to unblock you.
7. Outlook.com and Hotmail
Microsoft only allows its own sign-in for these accounts, which ECOMHUTSY Webmail does not support yet.
